Pesticide training - PA6AW Application to water
*

The NPTC Certificate of Competence PA6 will allow you to spray to within one meter of a watercourse. A watercourse is defined as any area which includes drainage channels, streams, rivers, ponds, lakes reservoirs, canals, and dry ditches and the banks or areas immediately adjacent.

PA6AW is the additional training and assessment needed to spray pesticides in or near watercourses. As well as the PA6AW qualification you will need to check that the pesticide you wish to use has aquatic approval and a current MAPP number. It is also a legal requirement to seek approval in writing from the environment agency prior to spraying.( Form WQM1)

If you already hold PA1 and PA6 qualifications then you may wish to consider a one day refresher course which includes PA6aw and ensures that you are up to date with current legislation.

People who wish to enrol for our standard PA1/PA6 course but may need to spray in or near water should discuss this ahead of the course by contacting Linda Scurr at lscurr@bca.ac.uk or by phone 01628 827510.

Transportation of Livestock

Do you know there are new regulations and qualifications for transporting animals by road?

A new law came into force on 5 January 2007 and covers the transport of all live vertebrate animals. From 5th January 2008 transporters or attendants using road vehicles have been required to hold a certificate of competence.

There are two qualifications, short journey, over 65 kilometres but under 8 hours and long journeys covering all journeys including those over 8 hours.

BCA offers assessment of the Certificate of Competence in the Transportation of Livestock, for Short Journeys. This qualification consists of one compulsory knowledge based unit and is assessed either by a computer based multiple choice test or on a one-to-one basis. The assessment schedules are located on the NPTC website www.nptc.org.uk

Please call 0800 0711666 or email hpbs@bca.ac.uk to book your place.
